Sometimes years can pass without extraordinary feelings. It's not that one would not appreciate the beauty of just living through the days. Getting older and wiser, experiencing the joys of children, family, work and hobbies - your life can fit into a beautiful circle or square (whatever fits your taste.) Real appreciation comes though when life experiences dig deeper into your humanity. When watching a sunset (I deliberately started with such a commonplace thing), swimming in still Lake Balaton, running miles on a road leading to a nowhere castle makes you truly think about how marvellous and precious is the life you live. When feelings surpass any feelings you ever had and you wonder how you deserved this.
There is a picture in my mind that I cannot show in a photo, simply because it was a night and there was no way to capture it. I only have it in my mind - ruins of a castle, you stand on top and you see everything in all four directions. There are lights in certain places - small villages, a town, dim silhouette of another castle. Between all this you only see the mist. But in the middle of the mist you get the glimpse of another mountain top, graciously swaying in the horizon.
